Electric Linear Actuators

While typical Kawak product development practices dictate use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts, sometimes commercial product availability lacks quality, reliability or essential design features.  When research was done for a product similar to our actuator we found that long lead-times, high NRE costs and expensive small production quantities were the only options. In these instances, Kawak does not just accept this situation, we assess our capabilities and in some instances, set out to make the product necessary for our application.  Our first revision actuators were produced in 8 weeks, subsequent changes were implemented and second revision actuators were completed in another 4 weeks.  These second revision actuators were subjected to real-world application immediately and proved to be reliable throughout qualification.  Prior to actuator qualification itself; our actuators had been used in real-world conditions for over 300 hours! Its primary purpose has been to remotely control aircraft turbine engines as well as control propeller pitch devices.

This actuator was developed due to lacking quality choices; our electric linear actuator has been designed to be lightweight, compact, reliable and strong.  It’s been designed with modularity in mind so altering stroke lengths, attachment methods, and static/dynamic load capacities is a snap!  Many features included in our actuators are offered only as options with others in the industry.

  • Omit LACM for simplified control tasks without positional feedback
  • Integrated positional feedback with adjustable ramp speed for fine positional adjustment
